Pastable Public cooking classes empower children from underserved communities to make informed dietary choices.
the curriculum
Pastable Public Classes are designed to enhance food literacy and empower school-aged children from underserved communities to cook for themselves and others.
During the 1.5-hour class in the classroom, children prepare meals from scratch, learn about food, and receive groceries to recreate the meal at home.
the method
Pastable Public Classes go beyond food education. They help reinforce community bonds through shared activity; provide exposure to the world of hospitality to tomorrow’s workforce; and foster in the children an interest for Italian, European, and global culture.
Pastable partners with schools, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders, to provide free access to the classes in the underserved communities of NYC.
